Fashion, textiles, fibers, and yarns have been the connecting threads throughout Elaine’s career. She has held staff or consulting positions as a fashion journalist, trend forecaster, promotion director, public relations consultant, and market researcher. A keen eye allowed her to quickly analyze and forecast cutting-edge trends for major fashion, marketing, and promotion publications produced for many well-known designers, retailers, and textile companies.
In the 1980s, Elaine was consulting fashion forecaster for
Celanese Fibers' menswear and childrenswear services. While there, she perceived a void in the menswear market, which led to the creation of
Phases,
Europe’s menswear designer runways.
