Elaine is a lifelong crafter, proficient in the needlecrafts — sewing, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, embroidery —and knowledgeable about many other crafts.

magazines, where she was responsible for producing the editorial pages for a wide range of home sewing and crafts projects, including designing and writing or vetting instructions. Later, she wrote scripts for the home sewing television show, Sewing Today.More recently, she has technical edited and copyedited crafts
books for
several major publishers.
In 2007, Elaine created ALL EARS,
designing and selling DIY kits for knit and
crochet earmuffs with (or without) earphones.
She is accredited as a knitting instructor from the Craft
Yarn Council of America
and taught knitting at crafts retailer Michael’s for several
years. She was a
wholesale member of since-disbanded The National Needlework
Association
(TNNA), where she exhibited and presented a workshop on
publicity for
professional crafters. She has exhibited All Ears at Vogue
Knitting Live.
In 2001, Elaine was featured in an article in Interweave Knits
magazine
describing her proclivities for both knitting and fashion.
